List qualifications prominently
ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CPA — these are filtering criteria in finance hiring, not just nice-to-haves. Put them in a dedicated section near the top. If you're part-qualified, state your progress (e.g. 'ACA — Passed all 15 exams, completing QBE').
Describe the analysis, not just the tool
Saying 'advanced Excel' means nothing. Write 'built a three-statement LBO model in Excel used in board presentations for Series B fundraise'. Show what the analysis was for, not just which software you used.
Show progression and promotion
Finance CVs should show a clear upward trajectory. If you were promoted, say so explicitly. If you moved from a generalist to a specialist role, frame the progression. Flat career histories need context explaining why.
